Jane Divides Loyalty
Between Selma And Salem
by Anne Lowe
“My name is Jane Smith”, she
iaid. So you don't believe it! I
didn’t either, but it’s true. Janie
is from Selma, Alabama. The first
question that this statement calls
to mind is—Why did you come to
Salem? “My Mother came here
way back when Mr. Campbell first
started teaching biology. I thought
that if he could stand it this long
that the least I could do would be
to give it a trial.”
Janie attended Parrish High
School in Selma, and to hear her
talk you would think it the most
wonderful place in the world. She
was in a club called the “Sassie
Lassies”, and from the long tales
that she spins off about their acti
vities, they were quite a group.
She was the associate-editor of the
annual staff, and plus being in the
Honor Society, she was chosen the
class beauty. When you look at
those dimples it’s not hard to see
why !
lane says that playing bridge and
the piano are her favorite past
times. She “loves to watch basket
ball and football”, although she
claims that she is the “most un-
athletic creature in the world.”
Unathletic she may be but at
tractive she is and we’re glad this
Selma girl is now a Salem girl.
