Plays, Symphony, Concert To Take Place In City Soon By Jean Calhoun Meet a stranger and he’ll politely ask you where you are from. Pro bably you will say, “Salem Col lege”, and when the ignorant thing | asks where Salem College is, you naturally will reply, “in Winston- Salem.” Perhaps you don’t will ingly claim Winston as your home, but because you do live here about nine months of each year, it is necessary, at least, that you claim it as your second home. Let us look and become aware of the happenings in our ‘Irome-away- frorn-home’. Things to come in the near fu ture include “The Heiress,” pro duced by the Barter Players. It will lie presented tonight in Rey nolds Auditorium and is the Little Theatre’s fifth major play. The following day the Duke Male Chorus will sing here in Winston. For the first time these 45 men will be accompanied by two co-eds. On March 13 theth Little Theatre Workshop will present “The Beast” at Wiley School. The next day Thor Johnson conducts the Cin cinnati Symphony Orchestra in Reynolds Auditorium. This con cert is to be sponsored by The .Arts Council and Mrs. W. P. Rainey. The audience that filled Memor ial Hall Monday night saw a broad variety of Winston-Salem talent in action. It was the year and a half birthday of the formation of the Arts Council and the audience, composed of the Arts Council and interested visitors, had assembled to hear the secretary of the Chi cago Opera Company, William Sal- tiel. Before and after Mr. Saltiel spoke the entertainment presented was proof enough that this city has a wealth of talent.
