Anril 27, 1951 THE SALEMITE Page Three Sophs Score Second Win In Soft Ball The sophomores and the fresh men opened the 1951 soft-ball season last week with an 11-8 win for the sophomores. Just as the sophomores had the garae, the freshmen staged a rally. However, the sophs stopped it in the last inning and came out on top. The teams were well-matched, but the capable pitching of Eleanor McGregor and the hard-hitting of the'whole soph team proved to be too imuch for the freshmen. The Sophomore softball team won its second straight game Wed nesday night by defeating the Junior class 14 to 5. The Sophs led the entire game, although the Junior team picked up in the last of the fourth inning and scored their five runs. Emily Warden made a home run for the Juniors, and Marian Lewis scored the Sophomore home run. “Mac” McGregor, pitching for the Sophomores, did an excellent job for the wdnners, and Emily War den, new president of the A. A., hurled an outstanding game for the losers. The game w’as called after four innings because of darkness.
