New Junior Class President
Loves Dogs, Music, Dentist

Sparkling eyes, a friendly smile,
and curly brown hair belong to
Alice McNeely, newly elected pre
sident of the Junior Class.
Alice was “thrilled to death and
very honored” by her new office.
She expressed her feeling toward
her new job as “a big pair of
shoes that I hope I will be able
to fill.”
Alice’s first big problem is with
Junior Breakfast. A local grill
seems tp offer competition to the
junior’s coffee, milk, juice, toast
and jelly. “Maybe we’ll have to
serve breakfast in bed,” she said.
. Alice comes from Mooresville
and is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. C. C. McNeely. She has one
brother and two sisters and comes
from a long line of Salemites. Both
of her sisters attended Salem and
one of them, Mary Frances Mc
Neely was May Queen in 1945. She
had a cousin who graduated from
Salem and then was Registrar here
for several years. Mary McNeely
Rogers, her cousin, is now a fresh
man here.
The Junior Class President is a
lover of cockers. Four dogs reside
at her home — Bruzer, the Dixie
Lady, Amber and Fraulein. Besides
raising dogs, “Mac” is interested
in music; she plays the trumpet
and the accordion.
Her main interest, however, is
centered around a Maryland dental
school. Alice admits, “There is a
boy named Bob, but I have several
other very good friends.”
At home Alice attended Moores
ville High School, where she was
very active in extra curricular acti
vities. In her senior year, Alice
was president of the Commercial
Club, secretary of the Beta Club
and treasurer of the Tri-Hi-Y.
She was also Drum Major for two
years.
At Salem, Alice’s interests are
diversified. In her sophomore year,
Alice was secretary of her class,
treasurer of the Y. W. C. A.,
Feature Girl, and served on the
Student Participation Committee.
This year she is junior editor of
the Sights and Insights, a marshal
and secretary of the Y. W. C. A.
