Salem’s January Girl of the Month need not worry; her career to date has been one to envy. Cynthia was born in Boston, Mass, and lived there until 1949 when she moved to Greenville, S. C. “I have a terrible habit of not letting Southern gentlemen treat me as a Southern lady.” she said. “One time my coat got caught in the car door three times because I wouldn’t wait for my date to open the door.” She must have learned the South ern customs quickly, because she plans to marry Malcolm Spann, a Greenville boy in August. The five-feet-eight Salemite had a successful career at Salem too. She is a Marshal, a “Y” worker and one of the big cogs in the Salemite wheel. She has also played field hockey and basketball, though she insists that she is “not athletic.” Cyndy frequently visits Mrs. Melvin and her three little boys to discuss French and life in gen eral. Cyndy says the visits are fun and besides, Mrs. Melvin some times feeds her. Writing poetry and themes for comp, keep Cyndy busy using her skills. Cynthia’s roommate is Joann Moody of whom she is fond but frequently scared by, because “she giggles and growls in her sleep and scares me to death.” “I loath typing, but do it all the time.” said Cynthia as she sat neat and straight finishing the last words of her term paper. “I guess I could never be a secretary.” ' Cindy and Malcolm are planning to live in Atlanta, Ga. where she hopes to be near enough to Florida to acquire a porpoise. (A por poise??) “Yes, I saw them at Marineland last summer and have wanted one ever since.” Cynthia has the distinction of being the only girl in Strong whose mind rolls off the bed, up the wall and out the window when she takes blue pills. Blue pills or not the Salemite is proud to announce that cooperative Cindy is the dis tinguished Girl of the Month. ■lllHIUHiHlllIHlBIIIHIIIHIlllHililBIIIIBIIIHIII TODDLE HOUSE 878 W.
