Hawthorne Phone 2-0005 News Briefs Sunbathing weather is approach ing and the I. R. S. wishes to re mind you that only the swimming pool and the east side of the gym are to be used for sunbathing. On Sundays the hours are limited from 1:00 until 6:00. When going to and from sun bathing areas, girls must wear shirts and skirts or long coats. Call downs will be turned in by the I. R. S. members to the Stu dent Council who will issue the call downs. Interviews and discussions con cerning job opportunities with Gen eral Electric will be held here at Salem on March 25. They will be conducted by Miss Ruth Freese and Miss Miriam Dalby who give particular encouragement to job hunters in the Junior and Senior Classes with experience in the fields of mathematics and science. However, all interested students are invited to come to the general meeting at 10:30 a.m. in room 20, as there are also job-openings in other fields. Any persons who are unable to meet at this particular time are asked to give their names to Dr. Hixson, who will schedule a suitable time. Mid-semester reports will be issued to college students on Thursday, March 26. These grades are obtained from the faculty ad- Sophomore Comprehensive' Tests will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 with the three-hour gen eral culture test. This will include testing in the fields of history, social studies, literature, ' Science, fine arts and mathematics. '• The two-hour contempofary af fairs test will be given on Wednes day, March 25 and will include test ing on public affairs, science^ medi cine, literature and fine arts. Dr. Hixson has stated that the interpretative scoring leaflets will be distributed to the sophomores upon completion and grading of the tests. , ])( * * The Y Cabinet met Monday night in the Friendship Room of Strong to elect officers for the coming year. Those elected were: vice presi dent, Barbara Allen; secretary, Sara Outland; and treasurer, Nellie Ann Barrow. Following the election, plans were discussed for the Easter Egg Hunt at the colored orphanage to be held March 30th at 4:00. Preceeding the meeting Miss Margaret Barrier, faculty advisor to the Y, entertained the group at an informal coffee hour.
