Turner of , Oxford announce the marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Lee, to iMr, Mark Charles Lasitter, Jr., on ■y. ' December 31. i Mrs. Lasitter, a junior at Salem, is majoring in English and minor- ing in education. She plans to get a teacher’s certificate. Mr. Lasitter is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Mark C. Lasitter, Sr., of Snow Hill. He is completing his junior year at North Carolina State College in Ceramic Engineering, The young couple plan to make their home in Raleigh next year where they will complete their studies. A garden reception will be held on May 9 at the home of the bride’s parents immediately follow- i ing a blessing at the Methodist I Church. Rev. A. D. Leon Gray I and Mr. O, K. Ingram will officiate. These awards were given in appreciation for the girl’s work at the Red Shield Boy’s Club during the year. , Nat S. Crews, juvenile judge of Forsyth County, and President of the Red Shield Club Board of Directors, and Joseph D. Sotis, Jr., Executive Director, presented the certificates. These were inscribed: “For hav ing displayed outstanding profici ency in volunteer leadership during the program year of 1952-53.” The girls taught classes in cooking, dramatics, singing, photography, arts and crafts, and served as lib rarians. judge Crews, in commending the girls, said that; of the three hund red sixty-six Boys’ Chibs in Ame rica, “Nowhere in the nation has work been done on such a fine scale.’! Mr. Sotis especially thanked Miss Margaret Barrier, who pre sented this service project to the freshmen class, and Nellie Ann Barrow, class president, who were largely responsible for the success of the project. A cake decorated with “Thank you Salem Sweethearts”, and ice cream were served to the girls after singing the “Boys’ Club Song.” Maypril Fool This is the first day of the month. Happ3' Maypril!
