Page Six THE SAL E M1T E May Salemites Review Their Year s Learning As Spring, Exams Close The School Year Picnic Is Planned By Ella Ann Lee Spring, \\\ith its fresh crop of flowers and sun bathers, brings happy thoughts of the closing of books and the ending of exams for another-'year. They Learn Many Salem students find this an opportune time to ask themselves just what they’ve learned during this year. Especially seniors, whose education is near its end, do we find making a self-analysis. When I asked a few seniors to name the outstanding thing they had learned this year, 1 was answered with such erudite sayings as : Ruthie Derrick’s reply, “Of all mv courses tit Salem, 1 found Tom Perry’s course on drugstore gossip ing to be the most enlightening.’’. lane Smith said, “How .good a time 1 had on a week-end by the u;ay 1 felt on Monday.” Jean Feels Jean Harrison hopped up and yelled, “Tt takes two to tango! Root-de-toot-toot!” Among the freshmen, Ann Camp bell replied, “There are fifty-three stejis going up to third floor Cle- well, and 1 don’t know how many going dowm.” Joy Harrison exclaimed, “It’s easier to go on a diet than eat broccoli !” Diane Huntley groaned as she said, “Never to take a man out to eat unless you’re sure he’ll pay you back I” ,VI a r t h a Thornburg answered, “How to keep studying from hind ering my education.” Rosanne Looks Roseanne Worthington 1 o o k e d quite wisely down her nose at me and replied, “I ain’t learned no thing!” Gertie Jolinson groaned and said, “.Mr. Curlee’s famed Boscovick Property!” Toddy Smith smiled and said, “A short cut to Chapel Hill.” Bobbie Kuss answ'ered, “Bowjnan Gray is O. K.!” Among the juniors, Barbara Allen came up wi.th, “How stupid I am! Jean Shope said, “Height is. no hinderance.” Alice McNeely laughed and re plied, “All Salem girls aren’t an gels—thank goodness!” Lucy Says Lucy Harris said, “Furnished 'apartments are not always con (lucive to good marriages.” Miss Chapman, one of our luckier females on campus, seemed to have a wise answer in replying, “Never be surprised at what can happen on a vacation!” Tlie day students have planned their last social of j! picnic to be held m ‘heJiJay Dell at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
