Campus News Travels Fast By Donald Caldwell Well, things must really be hap pening on other campi, girls, be cause the news has already reached me in my little attic room between South and Sisters’. (I’ve finally moved from Clewell and my new room is quite cozy. Miss Essie and I have jolly talks about the ghosts that room with me.) The biggest news that I’ve heard is that Carolina’s football team is really showing some' spirit. The big test comes when they meet those terrible Terrapins from Maryland. Oh, shades of Charlie Justice, if they could only win! It would be just like the old days. State and Wake Forest have al ready bitten the dust—Duke Uni versity is next in line. So much for sports girls, and let’s get down to important things —about two more weeks to Ger mans ! Better pull out your best formal and brush up on those dance steps ’cause Tommy Tucker is going to play some “crazy” music. I’m also hearing big things about that football team at Duke. They’ve been sweeping all of their op ponents. They also have ideas about that Duke-Carolina game. May the best team win. On the social side of the matter, Duke had their homecoming last week-end. Salem was quite well represented. (Lucky Girls.) Getting to that little ole Baptist school that is soon moving to Win ston-Salem, they had a great homecoming here in Winston. Vil- lanova didn’t have a chance. (If Wake Forest would hurry and move, I might have a chance to get out of my attic. I can’t wait.) Moving down southward,’ seems as though I heard that there would be big doings at Davidson this week-end. Though the Wildcats haven’t had too much success on the gridiron, they are out to get those P. C. boys. Then after the game there will be big doings in the gym. Charlie Spivak is playing for the homecom ing dance. Wonder what lucky girls will accompany our Gramley boys ? Get out your heavy coats, girls. State is playing Wake Forest Saturday night. Night games seem to be the coming thing ’specially in this cold weather. No one seems to realize that a girl’s clothes show up so much better in the afternoon. But that’s the breaks. That’s the news for North Caro lina at the present. But so much has happened, is happening and is going to happen that the Salem Sallys should soon be out of cuts and overnights. Then there might be a few lessons studied, books read, and themes written. The TODDLE HOUSE 878 W.
