Betsy’s talk was on “Why I Want to Be A Teacher.” She gave I her main reason for wanting to teach in a statement that she “likes people.” She further stated that her eight weeks of practice teach ing at Kernersville and Gray High Schools made her decide definitely that she wants to teach. Betsy, the daughter , of Dr. and Mrs. D. E. Forrest of Hillsboro, is a home economics major and an I education minor. In addition to being president of the F. T. A., I she is vice-president of the student body and vice-chairman of the May Day committee. This year she is business manager of the Sights and Insights, and is a member of the Home Ec. club, the “Y” cabinet and the Westminster Fellowship. In March, Betsy will represent Salem at the State F. T. A. con vention where she will run for “Miss North Carolina Student Teacher.” She says she is antici pating this with nervous enthusi- I asm, but that she is anticipating most enthusiastically next year when she will be a full-fledged teacher. «• Committee Elects Betsy Forrest As “Miss Student Teacher” The TODDLE HOUSE By Francine Pitts Betsy Forrest, president of the F, T. A., was sitting in the living room of the Home Management House right before a bridge party. She had just learned that she had been elected “Miss Representative Student Teacher.” The student body elected Doris McMillan of Galax, Va., Anne. Move of Tarboro and Betsy as the three girls to go before the Faculty Education committee. It will be shown at 6 :30 p.m. in the projection room of South Hall. ***** Since class schedules were final Monday, February 8, all students having a change in their original schedule should notify Mrs. Amy R. Heidbreder, Dean of Students, of the change. This is in order that the Dean of Students’ office will have accurate records of each schedule so that students may be properly and effectively notified and contacted when occasion arises dur ing the day.
