She was selected by the Salem Home Economics club to be Salem’s delegate in the election for vice- president at the state convention. But when she presented her cre dentials and expressed her desire to be elected to this office, she was asked to run for president instead, and before she really knew what had happened, had been elected. Jean is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel G. Currin of a small town near Henderson called Mid- dleburg. She emphasizes that Mid- dleburg is small by stating that it has the reputation of being the only town in the United States that has “Entering and Leaving Middleburg” on the same sign. That one statement is a revela tion of the sense of humor and congenial personality that won Jean her new honor. Miss Virginia Hodges, Salem’s Home Economics’ club advisor, was selected at the same meeting to serve as state advisor. She will aid Jean and the other officers in carrying out the activities of the state organization. Some of the responsibilities of Jean’s new office include presiding at state workshops, planning the state meeting for next year, and keeping all the clubs posted on activities of the National Home Economics Association.
