Sponsors Tournament The softball tournament opened on Tuesday afternoon with two games. The Sophomores defeated the Freshmen 20 to 6. Ann Webb and Betty Webster took honors for their teams. Nine to 5 was the final score in the game between the Seniors and Juniors, with the Seniors winning. Wednesday afternoon, the Sen iors defeated the Freshmen with a score of 10 to 3. Louise Fike and Mary Anne Raines, pitching and catching for the Seniors, proved a valuable combination for the Sen iors. Brenda Goerdel, manager of the Sophomores, led her team to a 14 to 10 victory over the Juniors. The championship game will be Main Officers (Continued from Page One) Bartow, Fla. Judy is not unfamiliar with leadership and campus acti vities. During the past two years, she has served as House President of Society, treasurer of the Sopho more class. Student Government recorder, and has worked with the ‘Y’ cabinet. She also writes for the staffs of the Salemite and the Sights and Insights. Judy has taken roles in both the Pierrette plays this year. After graduation, Judy would like to teach high school English. Elected president of the rising Sophomore class was Mary Jane Galloway. A prospective economics- sociology major, Mary Jane is from Rock Hill, S. C., and is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Gallo way. The new prexy has won recog nition by serving on the I. R. S. council. She is a Dean’s List stu dent. The Finance Board sets up the student budget. The Handbook committee will begin work on the 1955-56 Hand book after Easter. The on-campus vice-president is chairman of this committee; the off-campus vice- president is in charge of getting ads to pay for the publication of the Handbook. The Orientation Committee, which is composed of the presi dents of all campus organizations, the Dean of Students, the Aca demic Dean, and the house presi dent of Clewell will soon begin on the orientation project for 1955-56.
