Caldwel), Jr. of Chapel Hill and Mr. Lamar Stringfield of Char lotte. John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. . John Alexander Oates of Fayette- ville. Meredith attended Salem College and the University of North Caro lina. John, received his B. S. from Wake Forest and will graduate it)f June, 1956 from Bowman Gray School of Medicine. The date of the wedding is June 12. News Briefs Students are reminded that the closing chapel on Tuesday is com pulsory.
