This will be the official opening and showing of Davy. Davy is undergoing a transfor mation and a conglomeration. It is no longer dull and drab. The once yellow walls are now green; the brown furniture is pink; curtains have been added to the barren win dows; and red cushions have been added to the window seats. \Vhen Clewell dorm voted to keep the upholstered furniture in Davy, it was decided that redecora tion was necessary. Two represen tatives were chosen from each floor to compose the decorating com mittee. They are proud of it and are going to take good care of it,” said Kaky .Atkins. —Sally Bovard Girls Fifth Ready Event For Parents The fifth annual Parents’ Day will be held March 9 at Salem for the parents of the freshmen and sophomores. Judging from the attendance last year, about 160 parents are ex pected to attend everything from classes in the morning to a variety program in the evening. There will be time to meet the faculty, visit the classrooms and labs, and have dinner in the dining )om. The script for the variety pro gram was written by freshman Sara Wray and sophomore Susan McIntyre. Production is headed by another freshman and sopho more, Nanci Niece and June Greg- son. The entire day is in student charge and the parents will be guests of the college for the din ner. Dr. Gramley has sent invitations to all freshman and sophomore parents urging them to attend. Dr. Eugene Carson Blake, prom inent Presbyterian minister of Pasadena, California, and president of the National Council of Chur ches, will be the chief speaker. Brief messages will also be brought by Rev. Reichel, a Moravian minis ter from Germany, by Governor Luther Flodges, and by Salem’s Christa Menzel. Other ministers familiar to Salem students will also participate in the service. A five-hundred-piece band will N*ws Briefs Vespers Sunday night is led by the Presbyterian group, Westmins ter Fellowship. Jane Bailey is in charge of the program, to be held at the regular time, 6:30, in Little Chapel. You are cordially invited to attend. * * » Dr. Sawyer was in Williamsburg, Virginia, Thursday for a meeting of the National Council of Churches. There was one hour devoted to a talk about the 500th Anniversary of the Moravian Church. Dr. R. Gordon Spaugh, chairman of the Board of Trustees o{ Salem, was also present at the meeting in Williamsburg. It is the hope of the Moravian Church that many Salem students will attend this service and be in. spired and enriched by it. Those who wish to take advano age of free bus transportation to and from this service are asked to sign on the bulletin board in the dining room.
