He has lived all over the country, pur suing a range of interests and acti vities from coaching football teams to substitute preaching. He grew up. in Cleveland, Ohio where his father was a Federal Reserve bank examiner. This business of his father’s and his mother’s being an organist led to the development of two of his interests. He began working in the banking business after high school and carried out his love for music by working with church choirs. He began undergraduate work at Lees-McRae Jr. College. Then four years in the army carried him into 13 states, overseas and 18 months away from his fiance in North Carolina! He continued to study at Nebraska-Western Uni versity, Dallas Theological Semi nary and in the summer at Case Institute of Technology. He got his MA at Southern Methodist University. During this time and since he has held a variety of jobs in teaching, coaching and religious work. In just the past few sum mers he has taught summer school, replaced a choir director, driven a truck and preached for a month at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Wendt has coached athletic teams all over Winston-Salem. He is an active participator in sports. He plays volleyball regularly at the “Y” (also at the student-faculty games). He teaches at City Hos pital and substitutes in this pulpit when the preacher is away. Also he works with the church choir. He enjoys writing and has reviews published regularly in a religious periodical. He has a systematic time for reading and reads a book every two weeks. Mr. Wendt wants very much to go back to school. He devotes as much time as possible to his growing family—Richard, 13; Sheron, 11; Dolly, 7; and Donnie, 3. He does all the grocery shop ping and sometimes enjoys cooking. Robert Wendt All of this sounds like a busy 24- hour day and these are only his outside activities. Mr. Wendt loves working with young people and en joys teaching. We know him best m this full time role of teaching s o c i o 1 o gy, economics, geography and also marriage and the family to a frustrated group of seniors. I hope we will be as successful in this pursuit as Mr. Wendt has been in all of his ! Salem A new idea in smoking! your taste CREATED BY R.J. REYNOLDS TOBACCO CO.. WlNSTON-SALEM.
