Nina Ann Stokes, chairman of the committee, jubilantly reported, “We are just ] as happy as when the freshmen voted almost unanimiously to approve the plan” Nina Ann said, “We think the Rat Week we propose will do a better job of helping freshmen Erwin Robbins Receives Music I Appointment Dr. Donald M. McCorkle, direc tor of The Moravian Music Found ation, Inc., (has announced) the appointment of Erwin Robbins as administrative assistant to the director of the foundation, beginn ing July d. Confirmation of Miss Robbins’ appointment was made during a recent semi-annual meet ing of the Board of Trustees. Erwin is a senior piano major and English minor. At Salem she has been active also in journalism, having served this year as Feature Editor of the Salemite. She has already completed one year of ser vice with the foundation as a stu dent assistant, in which capacity she has assisted in the preparation of music for the forthcoming Early American Moravian Music Festival which will be held in Winston- Salem during the wetk of June 22-28. In joining the staff on a full-time basis, she will be active in fathering the manifold responsibilities' of the foundation in research, publications, and education. The Moravian Music Foundation is the first non-profit educational institution to be de voted to the re-discovery and ad vancement of American music writ ten before 1850. It was established as a corporation in the State of North Carolina in 1956 to function as a non-sectarian agency of the Moravian Church in America. It is the only foundation to be elected to constituent membership in the National Music Council. On Monday afternoon j / there will be organized ratting-1 that is, the freshman class will be divided into groups of six or mor; ,. and given jobs to do around cam pus. The ratting is to be planned ahead of time. Mr. Yarborough and faculty will be consulted about ,, jobs they want done. I On Wednesday afternoon a Field |, Day, will be held on the athletic field with both students and faculty [ participating. Following the games;- there will be a picnic at which the freshmen will serve.
