February 17, 1967 THE SALEMITE Page Three Leg Board Announces Nominations Salemite ‘Runners’ Make For Student Government Offices Morning Journeys Legislative Board approved the nominations for Student Govern ment offices Tuesday, February 14. The qualifications for office and the candidates’ platforms and pictures Semester break was extra special For a number of Salemites. Pam Hoffman received a lavalier as a birthday present from Ray Onyx, a Lambda Chi at Penn State. Mary McNair celebrated the end of the First semester by getting pinned to Paul Livingston, a Chi Psi at Caro lina. Ed White, president of APO it Clemson, gave his pin to Jane Bray. Jane Ann Chisholm agreed to wear John Morris’ Zeta Psi pin Dn Saturday night; but he didn’t Fiave it with him, so he gave it to Fier at church the next day. John is a Virginia man. Other pins have been around longer. Kristie Dickinson has been ivearing Thompson Miller’s Kappa 3ig pin since January eighth, and Amy Murray granted Paul Orser Fiis birthday wish on January tenth when she agreed to wear his Sig Ep pin. Thompson and Paul go to Wake Forest. A Wake graduate. Con Hender son, gave Fay Jackson a diamond for Christmas, but her friends were ifismayed to find that she didn’t have it on when she returned to school. Fay explained that her ring was too large and was being sized. It arrived in the mail last week and now rests on the appropriate finger. Con will receive his Master’s from the University of Iowa in June, and the wedding is planned for the nineteenth of August. .June tenth is the date for Deebe Eye.rly’s wedding to Bob Colson, a senior at West Point. That un usual class ring Deebe has been wearing since Thanksgiving isn’t really a class ring at all. It’s her i^gagement ring, a miniature of Bob’s West Point ring, exactly like it except for the stone. He pre sented it to her around three o’clock Thanksgiving morning. 1 Marianne Buie hasn’t yet set the date for her wedding. She received her diamond in December, from Bob Gingher, a senior at State. By Dana Evans Coming from high school with spare time in mind, unsuspecting freshmen enthusiastically volun teered for countless jobs to fulfill their desire to participate. One such position was running the news paper to press Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 7 ;4S a.m. Upon notification, freshmen “run ners” Barbie Barton and Mary Mc Nair looked forward to the refresh ing jaunt to the local printers at dawn, while senior “runners” Edna Harvey, Margie Winstead, Ann Mc- Master, and Bebe Anderson en visioned a good excuse to drive that so-longed-for Mustang. Setting out for a new adventure, freshmen “runners” started on their journey at 7 ;45 a.m. across the street, the highway, the . . . until finally they were standing engulfed in printing media, the smell of fresh ink, stacks of discarded paper, and unorganized materials, while men in long dirty aprons looked up and smiled warmly. At last the manilla printing en velope was handed over into the hands of a printer.
