C., Friday, November 12, 1971 Number 14 Scorpions Choose New Members The Order of the Scorpion has chosen seven new members, four Seniors and three Juniors. Jennie Snead, a junior from Cul pepper, Virginia, is a psych major and has been president of Clewell for two years and a member of Honor Council, Interdorm Council and Student Council. She plans on going to England in January to study the “Occult,’ a course offered through New Eng land College and hopes to attend Salem's summer school in Asolo this summer. As far as future plans go, she will work wherever she can get a job, except at the Holiday Inn as a hostess. Gwynne Stephens, a senior his tory major is now a member of SSC. She served the Exam Com mittee her sophomore year and as President of the Junior Class, a member of Leg. Board and coor dinator of self-scheduling exams her junior year. She is kept busy now with her job as an Old Salem Tavern waitress. History major Ann London has served as Treasurer of the Sopho more Class and Junior Leg. Board representative. She is now serving as an Honor Council representative and a member of Curriculum Com mittee. She is also a student teacher working for a secondary certificate. Christina Spence lists her ac complishments as: 1. gained 12 pounds 2. became the world’s No. 1 pro crastinator 3. gotten and written fewer letters than anyone at Salem and de cided that trips to the P. O. are pretty good exercise 4. learned that hitchhiking isn’t so bad if you really want to get somewhere 5. learned how to take down Al- den’s and Jan’s door to their room after being hit by one of their infamous water balloons New Scorpions: Janet Ward, Susan Hendrick, Alden Hansen, Christina Spence, Gwynne Stephens, Jennie Snead and Ann London. 6. decided that Art History is “my bag” 7. been happily elected as chair man of Interdorm Council. Junior Alden Hansen states that what she has done in three years includes: 1— Made 100 paper flowers for Ban quet on Parents week-end fresh man year 2— Raised and lowered flag 3— Helped paint a room in Clewell 4— Learned to drive Christina’s Honda 5— Faithfully served on Johnny Jewel Staff 2 years 6— Aided and abetted Jan Shivel in dropping water balloons History major Susan Hendrick of Rutherfordton, N. C, has worked her way up from freshman class president to her current position as vice-president of the Student Gov ernment Association. She has been the sophomore legislative board representative, secretary of SGA, chairman of SSC and Interclub Council, and the chief light and sound operator in the FAC for three years Currently working toward her secondary teaching certificate in hopes of teaching high school U. S. History, Susan plans to be married May 27, and is looking forward to eventually getting her masters de gree in counseling. Janet Ward is president of South dorm and the campus chapter of SNEA. After graduation from Salem she plans to teach second grade (hopefully in the Richmond area) and pursue graduate work during the summers. Her major at Salem is psychology.
