President SGA Lynn Mappus (1) Salem is not a “high class school for social butterflies.” She has the potential of becom ing a very progressive girl’s school; however, at the present time “things” seem to be stag nating due to an administration which seems to turn a deaf ear to student opinion. (2) I’m sorry that this type of question even needs to be asked on an all girl’s campus. The pre sent generation no longer places the social stigma on birth control that has existed in the past. I feel that Salem College has its financial interest in mind rather than the interest of the student body and its future society. (3) It’s trivial, but no one has thought of a better way. If we are as mature as we say we are, we shouldn’t even need a system to call us down for being loud during quiet hour, forgetting to sign in, etc. It’s all a matter of student responsibility. (4) Yes - especially since the the issue concerns students either directly or indirectly. One of the most important duties of SGA president is to keep a channel of communication (as narrow as it may be) open between students and administration. (5) Most definitely. (6) One of the major duties of Faculty Advisory Board is to make decisions on petitions sub mitted by the legislative board.
