The "Pill” will work - Stress is on the way out
By Catherine Vitamin Delbridge
So it’s November and you’re a
nervous wreck. Maybe you can’t
sleep at night because your dorm
is one huge telephone that won’t
quit ringing. The library is a
giant book that slams shut at
10:30 whether you’re through with
your work or not. The refectory
is a fat monster who grabs you,
glues you into a chair, and crams
food down your throat. Sidewalks
and stairs are constantly tripping
you up. Life seems like a hopeless
Technology Lives!

What’s an lEEE/NCSE 74? A
new model plane perhaps? We
weren’t sure so we read on. The
material was on a symposium to
be held in Raleigh, and to our
surprise some of the program in
cluded discussions that might be
relevant to our Computer Honors
work. But, it was in the middle
of the week, so we sighed and
said, “We wish,’’ expecting that
to be the end of it. However, all
of our Wednesday afternoon
classes (which are next to non
existent) and our Thursday
classes (thanks to Dr.’s B. and
P.) were cancelled. So we thought
on it some more and decided to
go. Well, we bounced off to
Raleigh and in no time we were
in front of the registration desk
at the Royal Villa. We registered
and finally found out where we
were supposed to be and slipped
in. We did not go unnoticed since,
except for a few wives who
trickled in and out, we were the
only females there. Then, we
understood the registration lady’s
bewildered look.
Well, as at all symposiums (or
so we’ve heard since we’re by
no means experts), some talks
were interesting and understand
able, and some were neither. We
were impressed by N. C. State
professor who spoke on 3-D color
graphics (2 dimensional repre
sentations on a TV screen shaded
to look 3 dimensional) and a
doctoral candidate who spoke on
how the above mentioned figures
were constructed. Also, the man
spoke on “Trends in Personal
Computation’’ (Listen up all you
calculator purchasers.) which is
the history of the “handholdable”
calculator. Boy, technology is
amazing. We can tell you lots
more about what we learned —
Just ask.

situation.
The time has come to stop sigh
ing and to solve your problems.
Help is here in the form of a
little yellow pill known as Stress
Supplement. This pill is not a
downer or a drug. It’s a simple
vitamin containing a vitamin B
complex and vitamin C. The vita
min B rushes to those tense mus
cles and calms them right down.
As a result, you’ll calm down
too. The vitamin C puts a smile
on your face. (It’s even better
for
trip
than orange juice.) You can ob
tain this little jewel at the
Aquarius Health Food Store for
approximately 30 a pill or 100
pills for $3.75. Just ask
Formula 72.
The sidewalks may still
you up, the refectory may still
grab you, the library may still
slam shut and your dorm may
still ring madly, but life will not
be hopeless. A stress supplement
a day keeps the GRUMPIES
away!
Students at Salem have much to
look forward to in terms of
future speakers and programs.
Due to much support and en
thusiasm in the committee, Lab-
lings will present several topics
of interest. Because there is little
time remaining in the semester,
they have scheduled only one
program. On December 5, there
will be either a guest speaker or
movie on the Galapagos Islands.
In addition, Lablings has plan
ned many interesting programs
for second semester. Mark your
calendars now for December 5
and listen for further information.
Be sure to find the box in your
dorm where you can leave all of
your old newspapers. Lablings is
sponsoring a drive to collect old
newspapers and then recycle
them. Plus they will receive a
small profit — so bring your old
papers!
