While at Konnoak, Betty took over the actual teaching of her class but always had the help and advice of the coordinating teacher. Betty feels that exper ience is definitely the best teach er. “Ideas learned in books don’t always teach you how to treat a personality. You have to relate to the children and try to under stand them.” Besides working with the chil dren, Betty completed her learn ing process by being involved in parent conferences, department and faculty meetings, and send ing out grades. Betty believes that teaching re quires more than just a 9-3 job and first semester was her hard est semester yet.
