Students completing teacher preparation programs and advanced degree candidates in specific fields may take the National Teacher Examinations on any of three different test dates in 1979-80. Educational Testing Service, the nonprofit, educational organiz ation that administers this testing program, said today that the tests will be given November 10, 1979, Februrary 16 1980, and July 19, 198' at est centers throughout the United States. Results of the National Teacher Examinations are considered by many large school districts as one of several factors in the selection of new teachers and used by several states for the credentialling of teachers or licensing of advanced candidates. Some colleges require all seniors preparing to teach to take the examinations. Prospective regist rants should contact the school systems in which they seek employment, their colleges, or ap propriate educational association for advice about which examinations to take and when to take them. The Bulletin of Information contains a list of test centers and general information about the examinations, as well as a registration form. When students hear of a sabbatical they often think of vacation; at Salem this is not so. The goal of a sabbatical is for writing, studying, travel, or research which will aid in the teaching of courses at Salem. Tc 'oe eligible for sabbatical the faculty member must have been at Salem for a minimum of six years. They are awarded by the Faculty Affairs Committee, who selects from the applicants. The sabbatical programs at Salem are for either a full year or a term. Sabbatical for Mr. Hewson Michie involved a trip to England for a term, where he lived at Mark Beach in Kent County.
