Page 8, March 1985 The Salemite Salem Athletic Association Spruces CIp Spring By; Alice Griffin S.A.A., the Salem Athletic Association, has been created for four purposes: 1- to encourage intramural participation 2- to plan, organize, and implement intramural and recreational activities. 3- to serve as an advisory board for intercollegiate programs 4- to promote positive social experiences for stu dents and faculty through sports. This semester, there are thirty members, a sign that interest in athletic programs at Salem is increasing. A schedule has been organized to make students aware of upcoming events this semester, so mark your calendar! Feb. 14-15 (Thursday/Friday): Shorts are on sale in the refectory during lunch. Cost is $6.00 per pair. March 3, 10 , 17, 24: Intramural flag football. Prizes will be awarded. ♦March 13(Wednesday p.m.): ICE SKATING, Beneath the Elms at the Hyatt. Cost is $1.50 per person. ' (regular $3.50). 35 people or more are needed. Sign-up begins Wednesday March 6th in the refectory at lunch. Guests are welcome, and selected "men" have been invited. April 12-14 (Friday-Sunday): Father-Daughter weekend. Soft- ball and/or kickball game Satur day afternoon. Further details will be posted later. April 20 (Saturday): Salem 8 K Cup Race 10 a.m. to noon. April 27 (Saturday): IRS after noon. Flag football. Guests and dates are encouraged to partici pate. Other: Faculty/Administration and Student/ Family softball game and picnic. Date TBA. Other: Intramural softball begins following Spring Break. Date TBA. Other: Intramural Swimming and Water Polo - TBA. The president of SAA for next year will be elected in this year's elections. SAA affects the entire student body. Any questions as to the duties of this office should be directed to Beth Ann Cosby, 104 South, 723-6719. All SAA meetings will be held every second and fourth Wednes day at 6:30 p.m. in the student center. Busy Semester for Seniors- By; Maiy Lou Swann Spring promises to be a busy one for the senior class of Salem. At present, seniors are preparing for "The Big Jewelry Raffle" to be held at the March 12th SGA meeting. The seniors will be raffling a beautiful 14-K gold dome ring donated by Cass Jewelers of Greensboro. One dollar tickets are available from any senior or by calling 723-0763. Wednesday night, March 20th marks the day of the Senior Class Auction. This annual favorite will feature auction items such as dinner at the home of your favorite professor or staff member, beach weekends, and faculty gourmet favorites. Plan to attend this entertaining dinner auction to be held in Corrin Refectory immed iately following Wednesday night supper. The class of 1985 will present a most entertaining comedy/mys tery (the title is even a mystery!) as part of Father/ Daughter Weekend (April 12-14). The production will be presented Saturday, April 13th at 8 p.m. and Sunday. April 14th at 7:30 p.m. in Hanes Auditorium. Be on the lookout for ticket informa tion. You won't want to miss this "Who-Done-lt?" fun! The Tandi Temple Sweater Sale will return to Bitting Reception room on April 17th and 18th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tandi Temple, a Salem Academy alumna from Atlanta, will present her exciting line of summer sweaters. Attention: The seniors will be printing a Student Directory supplement very soon. If you did not attend the October 9th SGA meeting, and your name does not appear in the directory or if your information is printed incorrectly, please submit a card with the following information in the folder marked Student Directory to be found in the Refectory. Directory supplements will be available free of charge the week of March 11th. - Deadline for cards is Thursday. March 7th at 6 p.m. Card Information: Name, class, campus ad dress, birthday, room or hall telephone number, home address, and home tele phone number.
