October ’ "'"O COMMUNITY HI-LIGHTS Through the cooperation of the members of the Bailey Bap tist church a new floor has just been laid in the Baptist Church. Women of the Mt. Pleasanb Woman* s Society of Christiam Se3> vice held a monthly meeting at Mrs. Kitty Taylor Dev;’s home, Thursday night, October 17, They met at Mt. Pleasant and all went together from there. Friday, October, 1940, there was held in thr, Bailey Methodist Church a Harvest Da;^r. The produce delivered to the church will be sold and the mon^ applied to the church budget. On Halloween night, Thurs day, October 31, there,will be held in the community club build ing a Halloween entertainment sponsored by the Woman i s Cliib to raise money to pay for the build ing. Prom rides ^ onsored by the P,T. A, ■ during the wee!: of Octo ber 14, the school received six ty seven dollars. Vi/hen the-Mt, Pleasant P.T.A, met Wednesday, October 9, it was decided to hold a ground beauti fication day to plant shrubs on the school ground sometime in November, Young people of the BailSy Methodist Chujrch meet at the church on each Tuesday night fcr choir practice. The choir under the leadership of Mr, Howton is becoming «n i-nt«T>osting feature of Sunday mornings’ service. The choir has been invited to sing at the Victory Rally Service at Mt, Pleasant, October 27, The Missionary Society of Bailey recently entered a new field of making money to carpet the church—cotton picking. Pr.acticallsr. one bal© -p-'wasf picked from the farm of W^Il, mer by Mesdames Jack Collie, Al lison Parmer, Roland Glover,"Bud die" Bissette, Eugene Pinch, Her bert Parmer, Carl Walker, E, A, Howton, Ed, Cozar, Easley Strick land, L, C, Mann, and John Cc- zart, Page Nine Due to the large amount of tobacco to be graded and .sold whild prices are average, cotton picking has been delayed, Mt, Pleasant Church held a Harvest Day at Mt, Pleasant on Priday, October IS, all people who attended brought farm pro ducts to sell at the Rocky Mo-unt Curb Market; the money will go toward the general budget of the church. The high school communi ty failed to creditably support the high school play presented in the Bailey auditorium, Wednesday, Oc tober 16, It is thought that tls lack of advertisement and too many other activities kept the house from being filled.
