DEPARTMENT SECURES NE^iV EQUIPMENT Hildred Ruffin and Aileen Pinch So far the Homo ■ Economics 61uTd has had only one meeting this year at which time the fol lowing officers woro elected: Aileen Pinch, president; Mary Rose Brown, vico-prosident; Ruth Ruffin, secretary; and Bobby Morgan, treasurer. At the same meeting the year's motto was selected--"Good, better,- best wefll never let it rest, until the good is better and the better best." The club members are par ticularly proud of the new equip ment for both the kitchen and sewing labs. In the sev/j.ng I’oom have been added new eurtains, a new ironing board, an iron,ma«.- chine attachments, and a pinking machine. Improvements have been made in the kitchen laboratory’ey the purchase of uteg.flls FORMER JANITOR DIES Marie High The Bailey teachers and stu dents heard with sadness of the death of Lonnie Fort, Thursday, October 3, He was janitor at Bailey until Christmas 1939, when an injured toe, becoming infected, forced him to have one of his legs amputated. Recently Lonnie was awarded substantial aid by the Industrial Commission and expected to get an artificial limb. He hoped with this to be able to return to work in the school, Lonnie was a faiiit ful worker, always cheerful and cooperative, •On Sunday, September 29, how^ ever, he suffered a stroke of paralysis, caua ng his death on October o. The faculty and stu dents of Bailey School sent &a. floral display. The colored people of Middle sex will feel a distinct loss, and we will miss Lonnie here in t the school. SPORT ACTIVITIES INCREASE Albert Lamm Bailey High School is under taking to make two new sports possible this year, the rick-rack and shuffle board. These games are introduced for those who do not wish to join the regular sport games, Mr. Rogers will be out to teach all those who wish to learn how to play the games and count the score. It is ,elieved that all the girls and boys will be interasted in these games. There ware so many boys out for basket ball tliis year, the coach had to turn down about twenty-five. Prospects are good for one of the best teams Bailey ha3 over had. The school has man aged to get the girls ten new sweat suits and the boys ten new pants.
