AN ADDRESS TO OLD GLORY
Old Glory, I wonder if yo\i truly
realize just wliat you mean to
Americans. Your stars and stripes
mean more than just red , white,
and blue bits of cloth; they stand
for our country that we so love,
honor, and obey; this l^d called
by some just America 'us the
United States of Ameri^c»JEiij^
united . brings togetntsyl^Tl class-

the strong and the weag^ to bo
classed in one great division
Americans, Your brave colors re
call to our mind the great
battles which ware fought f:.nd the
hundreds of men who willingly gave
their lives that you might still
display your glory and splendor to
the public. We also romembor that
you wore not ostcb,J»4«B^d in your
dom.ain without .-^rd^ •f^ort on the
part of our for-3fwdtch
you proudly waving :y^the breozo,
we aro reminded tooj^iat'the free

be found in other countries bear
ing a different bnnnor. V/hile we
watch you bravoly fly, we hoar tho
laughter of childrvjn ut play, not
men and women digging in tho ruins
of thoir homos to find thoir once
valuable possessions; v/o hoar tho
hum of industries, not tho roar of
planes and bomba. Hlion wo think of
those things,we offer the prayer ,
"Thank God that v;e aro Americans."
