Vacation Days Need Not Be
WiLL-o-THE Wist Di^eams
Dreams of vacation time are soon
to be realized. To most students
these dreams visualize a period of
relief from study and mental "ago
nizing”. Yet having a fo\ir months
vacation doesn't mean there should
be four months wasted. Even though
there seems plenty to do in the
home, there are always idle moments
which should be made use of.
Doing paralled reading during va
cation saves much time during busy
v/inter’months. This year,more than
ever before, every minute should be
made to count. Patriotism demands
activity. It’s just as easy to
start a v/orth while hobby as to day
dream about it. An interesting hob
by will keep a pupil's mind alert
and keep him entertained.
Everyone must look ahead and be
prepared for any defense call that i
comes his way. School studies, it
is true, will be laid aside, but
other lessons will be substituted
if all are responsive to the chal
lenging times.
i April 22 will bo an important
) milestone' in the lives of the se-
j niors, for after then many of them
v/ill be ”on their own". Some of
them will continue their schooling
in college;some will join the armed
forces of Uncle Sam; some will get
jobs; and some will stay at home or
marry. But v/hatevor they decido to
do, the training and ideals, they
roccivod in school will, if used
correctly, help them to make a suc
cess of life. Good sportsmanship
and fair play \7ill bo of just as
much use in the game of life as in
games at school. Perseverance and
co-operation v;ill play a vital part
in success. In those times of world
up-heavel, more than ever before,
one must have frith in God and man,

High School Memories
Perhaps ne::t to ^^raduation the
Junior-Senior banquet is the most
anticipated of all high school
events. This year, after our na
tion's entrance into the war, the
fate of the banquet v/as for a time
very uncertain. Even though both
classes realized the need for sacri
fices, it was finally agreed, much
to the delight of the seniors, that,
war or no war, life must have its
hours of joyful freedom. So the
banquet was held.
The seniors wish to express
I their appreciation to the juniors
I for the time, and effort they spent
on the banquet. The pleasure de
rived from this occasion will long
be remembered as a bright spot in
their high school career.
