All igators Prove Interesting Study
On our study of al
ligators, v/e have
learned many things a-
bout them. They are
foimd in China and in
tropical America as
far north as Florida.
They live in fresh wa
ter streams and bp’st
in the sun on tho
gro\md.
The alligators usual
ly lay from throe to
five dozen eggs,
though there may be as
many as two hundred,
Tho baby alligators
are about eight inches
long at birth. They
livo on the average a-
bout forty years, Tho
bright yellow marks
disappear with grov/th,
leaving them dull gray
or black.
Alligators feed on
fish, birds, and ani
mals, Their powerful
jav/s and sharp tooth
can easily crush a
man's arm or leg.
Their pov/orful tails
are strong enough to
knock a h\.iman being
down. In v/intor they
bury themselves in mud.
The First Grade Be
ginners are playing
store. Since Jimmie
Harris and Carroll
Jones are tho store
keepers, the store was
named ’'Harris's and
Jones's Grocery Store”'
Tho pupils are gain
ing many benefits in
playing store. They
arc learning their ad
ditive and subtractive
facts in addition to
many social courtesies
in a practical v/ay.
They must add tho cost
of their purchases and
also tho points on the
