They are foimd in China and in tropical America as far north as Florida. They live in fresh wa ter streams and bp’st in the sun on tho gro\md. The alligators usual ly lay from throe to five dozen eggs, though there may be as many as two hundred, Tho baby alligators are about eight inches long at birth. They livo on the average a- bout forty years, Tho bright yellow marks disappear with grov/th, leaving them dull gray or black. Alligators feed on fish, birds, and ani mals, Their powerful jav/s and sharp tooth can easily crush a man's arm or leg. Their pov/orful tails are strong enough to knock a h\.iman being down. In v/intor they bury themselves in mud. The First Grade Be ginners are playing store. Since Jimmie Harris and Carroll Jones are tho store keepers, the store was named ’'Harris's and Jones's Grocery Store”' Tho pupils are gain ing many benefits in playing store. They arc learning their ad ditive and subtractive facts in addition to many social courtesies in a practical v/ay. They must add tho cost of their purchases and also tho points on the rationed foods. They must be able to sub tract to make change. The- Beginners think it is groat fun play ing store, TEN COMMANDMENTS STUDIED The third grade pup ils are learning ‘the Ton Commandments, Irene Glover, Jerilyn Lancaster, and Eunice Perry said them per fectly Friday, Their teacher took then to tho drug store at lunch.
