pleted its unit on English
classics.
Appreciation of ^ these
novels by the class was
enchanced by reports and
discussions and by the
reading of at least two of
the books by each member
of the class.
Each author was studied
in an effort to ’learn
something of his back
ground, why he wrote the
book, his style of writing,
and his ability to build a
life-like plot.

plot, character portrayal,
important passages and
scenes, and the possi
bilities of present day
themes and plots.
The class was divided
into groups composed of
those students having read
the same book. Each group
under the guidance of a
chairman presented its
author and book. Then the
class as a whole was in
vited to ask questio^is and\
add further comments,

The play given by the sev
enth grade was outstanding

especially played his part
