Bailev. Bugle. Bailey. North Carolina, April, 1951 Locals Compete In Cattle Judging Contest Johnson Cotton Co. Host To Com Club Monbors of the '1951 Corn Club were guests of the Johnson Cbtton C^onpony at a barbecue supper in Rocky Mount last month. To become a momber of this clubj one must pro duce over 75 bushels of corn per acre. Boys from the local F. A, chapter who were eligible wore TorTmy Glover, William Lamm, Billy Joe Lamia, Denny Liles, R. 0. Pace, Sldrcd Perry, Jenning Nixon, C, D, ilullen, Roosevelt Warren, Earl I-'Ianriing, Rufus Beard, Billy Bunn, and Short Brantley. All members producing over 100 bushels per acre received a certificate of merit. The person in this district v/ho produced the most corn per acre re- coivod a ^100. war bond; second highest, a 050, bond; and third, a v25, war bond. All members were given a one gallon bag of hybrid seed corn for his efforts during the past year. Pace R.ecieves Award R. 0. Pace received a prize of '’''>35, for produc ing the most corn per aero in the North East District of the State. His yield was 125,2 bushels of corn per acre. Recital InThe Making Mrs. Carleton Johnson,nus- ic teacher, reports that her students are still working on their numbers to be presented at a recital. Members of the local F.F. A. Chapter participated in a practice cattle judging contest held in Goldsboro last month, Representing the Bailey club was Ed Paco, Theron Sanders, and Ray Jonos Jor dan, Clifton McKeel served other boys attended to try their hand unofficially at cattle judging. Three prizes were a^^?ardcd the participating teams. First prize was '>10.; se cond and third, ‘^5, each,. The local team earned as alternate. Several fourth place. In need cf service'^?
