To Make ChangGS;
Although the new building
is finished, workmen con
tinue to make improvements
needed in the auditorium
and science laboratory.
The old home economics de
partment is being con
verted into a science lab-
classroom combination. The
laboratory will be in the
back and the classroom in
front.
Until the high school re
ceives an additional teach
er, the old science lab
oratory will be kept in re
serve for a classroom.
Additional room to the
auditorium is being added
by restoring the original
balcony that has for years
served as the lunchroom.
Another phase of improve
ment is the installation
of speakers to the P. A.
system in the new building
and agricultural depart
ment .

MRS. HOWARD FARMER and’ MRS.
LAURINE T. LASSITER, while
they attended, with the
journalism class, the
three-day COLUMBIA SCHO-

New York.
Before leaving, the
teachers mapped out a plan
for each day's work while
they were away.
Displays for the third
annual Open House were
made in advance by MRS.
FARMER and MRS. LASSITER.
Visitors from New York
City here this month
couldn't understand how
Bailey could have such a
"modern, progressive
school on the inside and
such uncared-for grounds
on the outside, "
When showed around the
school from end to end, Mr.
and Itcs. Jre Keisler
offered both favorable and
unfavorable comment.
The couple was impressed
with the progressive
methods used and the
modern and adequate equip
ment to v;ork with. They
marveled at the_ lack of
evidence of any vandalism.
Both agreed that Bailey's
new lunchroom and home ec.
department "far surpasses
any seen in New York.
As a suggestion to help
improve the grounds, the
Keislers said, "Train the
high' school students to
set shrubs and sow grass
and mal?e it a part of
their school work for fu
ture home use.
"The school certainly re
flects community interest
and pride from the inside.
Why doesn't it reflect
that same interest to any
one who has never seen the
inside? "Mrs. Keisler in
quired. She wondered aloud
why the P. T. A. or some
other community organiza
tion didn't have ground im-
arovement as its project.
