Shorty Wells, hurt by an automobile,, received from the grademothersj Mrs. M, B. Glover, Mrs. Jasper Finch, Mrs. Dan Christian, and Mrs. Fred Smith, a pair of pajamas and a sun shine basket. Donee also was Judy Smith, who is in bed with rheu matic fever. The grade mothers presented her with an Easter basket and a book entitled "The Bobbsey Twins." GradGS Fbrtroy Spring Three lower grades brought spring to life in the program presented at the P.T.A. last Thursday evening in the cafeteria auditorium. Mrs. Altermise Glover's second grade gave -The Magic Carpet"; Hiss Alice Hardy's third, "Spring time"; Mrs. E. H. Pas- chall's fourth was in charge of the Easter de votion. During the business hc-ir Principal Weaver reported that the committee com posed of a parent and a teacher from each county school would like to have any criticism that any teacher or parent has to offer regarding the elementary report cards. He said that he would be glad to convey to the com mittee any criticisms from this school. Closs Ploy Reveals Seniors' Tolent "Sweet Ann Page", the musical operetta presented last Friday evening by the senior class", gave evidence of the talent of the senior class as a whole, since 1S% Sprjnq In Evidenog In Classrooms Evidenced in 'every elemen tary classroom is the fact that spring has arrived. Work of the students give proof of this fact. Students of grades tvjo through eight have pre pared plaques, drawings,or cut-outs of birds, have posted drawings of summer days, and collected wild- flowers, cocoons^ and tad poles. A black board frieze in Mrs. R. G, L. Edwards's room illustrates the "Stories of Uncle Remus"by George H. Harris and was made by eighth grade stu dents Carroll Bottoms, Lane Farmer, Barbara Boykin, Martha Thigpen, Betty Sue Boykin, Clara Morgan, Curtis Moore,Cecil Pearson, Richard Frivette, and Keith Vick. FAVORABLE COia>^:NTS That the audience appre ciated this talent can be attested by the favorable comments heard during the past week from those attending. The mixture of music, comedy, and romance, found in the operetta made its appeal to all. VARIETY It was this variety of plot that enabled a large per cent of the class to have a part in the play. Those not actually perform ing on the stage had sup porting roles in the form of publicity, stage con struction, selling tick ets, ushering, lights and curtains, making of pro grams, and prompting. As the curtains were raised, a full house greet ed the performers. From that moment on, the au dience remained attentive, their applause revealing their responsiveness. Physics Class TokGs State Test State physics test , spon sored by the University of North Carolina annually, vrere given to physics stu dents last Friday, con firmed M, W, Weaver, principal. "I just like to see how we rank with other schools in the state. This is the third year Bailey has par ticipated in this academic contest," says Principal V/eaver. Dealing with "Mechanics and Heat", the papers will be graded by university professors, and each com peting school will receive its rating.
