BAILEY BUGLE. BAILEY. NORTH. CAROLINA. SEPTEMBER..JL2j^ Principal Reporting..„L„-'—- Pagfi ^ M, W, Weaver Don’t forget to go to the polls tomorrow^ October,r3j and cast your ballot in the School Bond election. School people around the State will greatly appre ciate your vote for the bond issue, Nash County would receive several hundred thousand dollars in the proposed plan of distribution, DonH forget to vote tomorrow, Saturday, October 3» H. S. EmOLI.MENT High school enrollment is greater than it has . ever been in Bailey* There are 206 enrolled at this writing, with the possibi- ligh of a few more cowing in. We gained a teacher in the high school this year and evidence points to continued groxjth. High school attendance i? much improved and should con tinue to be good. May we urge that students not be kept out of school except for work that cannot be done at another tiiiie or for sicknoDS*' ELEMENTARY ENROLUffiNT The enrollment sittiation in the elementary school is not as good as it was last year. At the end of the fii’st month in the fall of 1952 there were 395 students in grades 1-8.. This year at the end of the first month 383 had enrolled. That difference needs to be made up with more added. In order to meet the requirements for the number of teacher now allotted, the mmber of absences, except for sick ness, must be held to 23 per day^, That gives less than two per day for each r9pm. This situation can be practically taken care of at . moving time. If the land OTmers will add fam ilies with more children than moved away when there are shifts, we ' will bo helped considerably. PARENTS, YOU GAN HELP US Staff Smallest Evor ToTackie Editing Job Seven’members of the jun ior and senior classes, as sisted by four typists, are undertaking the publi cation of the school paper this year. This is the smallest staff ever to undertake the editing of the Bugle. Even though Principal Weaver has on numcrpus oc casions pointed out that the Bugle brings more state and national recog nition to Bailey High than any other school activity, the daily work required for the paper’s publica tion damands more time, thought, and energy than most students are willing to exert, affirm the ad visers. with a problem at dis missal time.
