Hi, Sports Fans:
I'm sure all of you have
met our new coach and
would lilce to know more
about him.
V.'oodrow Hillis Westall
comes from Black Mountain,
North Carolina. He is the
only boy in' his family of
seven girls.
After graduating from
high school, he decided to
attend the University of
North Carolina to further
his education and become a'
physical education teacher.
At the present time he is
vrorling for his Master's
Decree at the University
and hopes to get this de
gree by completing his
last six weeka of school
the’first part of next sum
mer.
This mSkes his fourth
year of teaching.
Venturing over to Red
Springs, North Carolina^
he courted Susan Duncan,
snd in December of 1937
tl)ey were married. They
now have an eightmonth old
son, Woodrow Hillis West-
all, Jr., called Hillis,
ADDED TEACHER POSSIBILITY
The present high school
enrollment would entitle
the hirh school to an addi
tional teacher next year
if students would remain
in school regularly, de
clares the principal.

. Ambition Becomes Fact
When asked her purpose
for taking bookkeeping,
Mrs. Luther Batts, a spe
cial student of the book
keeping class, replied, "I
have no purpose, only an
interest in it,"
She further stated that
it had long been her de
sire to learn bookkeeping,
but when she was attending
school it wasn't offered*
Mrs. Batts took typing and
shorthand during the 1951-
•'53 school year.

and girls of this class.
There are 17 girls and l6
boys."
The ninth grade, section
A, has practically a du
plicate record of the sen
iors, aa theire are 19 girls
and 17 boys.
In tho entire high school
the girls have an edge on
the boys by 13.

He durther adds that if
it's all right he plans
girls' practice in the aft
ernoon and the boys' at
night, as it has been in
the past.
TOURNAMENTS
The coach is hoping to
play the class tournaments
the first week of October.
The following week he
would like to start his re
gular practice for the
srquad.
"In order to keep the
players in good shape and

practice may be every iay,"
says the coach.
