BAILEY BUGLE, BAILEY. NORTH CAROLINA. NOVEMBER, 19^3 Page 3 Principal Reporting.- M. W. WEAVER Queens Receive Crown THANKSGIVING SEASON HERE The Thanksgiving season is here again. Let us stop and take note of the many things we have for which * we can be thankful. We can begin on a very per sonal level , and count.the blessings there. We can be thankful for life, health, sti’ength, happiness. As life expectancy continues to increase, we have more years that we can use in training in order that we. might do a better job in adult life. The medical profession has done such an outstanding job in help ing us to be healthy that poor health is the ex ception rather than the rule. We need to appre ciate good health and to guard it zealously. We should be thankful for an average mind. Use it, train it, discipline it. OUR HOIffiS We can be thankful for our homes. The parents in the home supply us with our physical needs. Food, clothing, and shelter are necessary. They are appre ciated when they are re ceived. The home, however, has other functions which are as important as the satisfying of physical needs, or maybe more im portant. The parents should set an example. They should be honest, truthful, sober, reverent, law abiding people. They should know the right thing to do and do it. They should make the child feel secure. They should give the child a feeling of belonging; a feeling that he is lovedj a feel ing that he is really an important person. If young people have parents who minister to their physical, moral, social, and spiri tual needs (most of ' ’ thorn do), then they can really be thankful this year and every year. As your list grows longer, don't forget to be thank ful for your school, your church, your friends, your playmates, FOR AMERICA Take a long pause and be grateful that you are an American. Honor your coun try and its flag. Hold up its standards and its ideals. Support its in stitutions with your self, your services, your money. Honor its glorious past; take pride in its illus trious present; and hope for it a wonderful future, MAY Vffi BE TRULY AND HUM BLY THANKFUL AT THIS 1953 THANKSGIVING SEASON.
