guest speaker. He centered
his talk around the ban
quet theme ’’Mothers of
Today and Tomorroxj,"
Mr. and Mrs. Fries and
their daughters, Sheryl
and Diane, entertained
vjith various selections on
the piano, accordian, and
harmonica. The girls did a
song and dance routine
contrasting the dance
their parents did with the
modern day dance.
During a special ceremo
ny, "A Rose For You", each
FHA’er presented her moth
er with a red rose, the
organization flower. Chap
ter Mothers x-jei’e also
given rose bushes in ap-
preciati.on for work done
for the chapter.
"Appreciation is extended
to the F. F. A. boys who
helped prepare the food by
barbecuing the chickens
for the banouet'*, says
Miss Ruth Turnage, advisor.
The rest of the menu was
prepared by the FIIA chap
ter and consisted of pota
to salad, . green string
beans, relish, hot rolls,
iced tea, and apple pie.
During the week of April
5-11, the Bailey FHA chap
ter observed National FHA
xTOek by numerous activi
ties.
Printed announcements
concerning FHA week were
placed in the church bul
letins. Posters were made
and distributed at school
and up-town.
The week consisted of the
following activities: on
Sunday the girls partici
pated in the worship ser
vices in the local
churches. A choir composed
of FHA members sang the
FHA prayer song in the
Methodist Church. Monday
was set aside as publicity
day. Celia May, Judy Smith
and Mary Elizabeth Glover
visited M.V. Weaver, prin
cipal and askod him to
proclaim April 5-11 as
National FHA week. Tuesday
■was declared "School Im^
provement day." FHA mem
bers staged a clean-up day
and began by cleaning
their lockers, Wednesday
the girls washed all car
windows on the scho.ol
ground. "Family Day" was
observed on Thursday. The
girls honored their moth
ers by doing at least one
duty that their mother
usually does. The week
climaxed with a weiner
roast and "Sock Hop" Fri
day night.

Glover were co-chairmen
for the National FUk week
planning committee.
