Three of these students, Wayne Boyette, Charles Sherrod, and Charles Whit ley have been present everyday. The class has organized a club named "Our Club", Its officers are President, ST^iNLEY WILLIFORD; Secre tary, Pi\MEU BR.U'ITLEYj and Treasurer, SUE PERRY. Serving as grademothers for Miss Eatmori's class are as follows: Mrs. Mar tha Williford, Mrs, Elndra Lamm, and Mrs. Lewis jlover. PERFECT ATTENDANCE MRS. HELEN MURR.\Y has "ive students in her fourth grade with perfect attendance records. They ire Barbara Jo Stallings, liinda Stone, Wanda Sanders, jynn Christian, and David Carroll, The class has carried out i very creative craft pro ject during the year. They iiave made doll beds, bird feeders, and chest. They -lave also covered coat nangers, and have woven oot holders for their irothers. SCIENCE PROJECT As a science project, Mrs, ’'furray's class has studied jrees. They also collected weaves and tdentified them ji the fall. Six of Mrs. May’s stu dents, ■'•felter Etheridge, Rubin Williams, Vickie Corbett, Joyce Davis, Jen ny Ed^vards, and Barbara Jones, have perfect atten dance records. GRi\DEMOTHERS The grademothers, I'lrs. B, J, Corbett, Mrs. J. E. Board, Mrs. Marshal Brock, Jr., Mrs. Dan Christian, Mrs. Elmer De.ans, and 14rs, Harold Finch, served the clr.ss at Christmas. Mrs. May's students have won many honors during the year. They won the P.T.A, attendance prize four times, the P.T.A. member ship drive, and they are participating in the Nash County Soil Conservation Contest, VICKIE CORBETT and WALTER ETHERIDGE, representing the state of Virginia, v:on the prize for best display at Open House. Helping these two Here Jane Finch, Marie Pcrr;>-, Johnny Bras well, and Doug Prantley. Jewel Kay Christian and Jenny EdT-jards tied for having the most stars in spelling. There have been three new students in Mrs. I'fey's room since Christmas, NEW STUDENTS MRS. OLIVIA b;iRNES was pleased to have five new students, Linda Webb, Wil lis Dew, Verlie Jean Brew er, Ray Denton, and Kay Hawley, enter her fifth and sixth grade this year. Mrs. Barnes’ class has been very active during the year. They have com pleted units of study on pioneer days, oxir nation’s growth, and early ci vili- zation. In science they have at tained a fine shell and rock collection, made leaf booklets, and are now studying birds. The class has thoroughly enjoyed using their new science equipment. At the present Mrs, Barnes' students are par ticipating in the Nash Comty Soil Conservation Contest. GRADEMOTHERS The class was given a Christmas party by their grademothers, Mrs. Charles Folsom, Mrs, David Manning, Mrs, G, J, May, Mrs, J, E, Joyner, Mrs, L, H. Barnes, Mrs, Raymond Finch, and Mrs, AT.bert Francis. SCIENCE--NATURE STUDIES The Sixth graders in MRS, RUTH UNDERWOOD'S room have studied several very inter esting units on the Inter national Geophysical year, space travel, ancient and South American animals. They are now studying the wild flowers and birds of North Carolina, The class has enjoyed working with their new science equipment, espe cially the film project and the bioscope film strips.
