Upon digging through a bunch of
fites and scrapbooks and what-have-
you the alumni have come into the
hmelight.
Among athletes who graduated in
‘41 we find one particularily out
standing gent, namely one Buddy
Crone. Buddy was quite a diver in
his day as many of \is recall. After
graduation from high school Buddy
entered the University of North
Carolina and later Was switched to I
the xvfavy V-12 unit there. Now \)f'

Sissies
Thanx to dramatics coach Clifton
Britton we have a fine bunch of
“sissies”, as their colleagues jest
ingly call them, out here at GHS
this year. '
Athletes are Buddy Keen, Barney
Cotton, (who has recently received
a letter from the President and is
now at For't Bragg, or some other
place), “Jello” Hallow, Mark Mc-
Lawhorn, Donald Malpass, Max
Stith, Hubert Rose, Pete McDowell,
Wendell Ed^erton, Tommy Davis,
George Wilson, Ralph Wiggs, Frank
Dail, Curtis Lancaster, Leon Perry,
Neil Ragan, Bill Weathers, Henry
Lee, and Charles Wiggs.
These boys are learning, among-
other things, to act, handle the
lighting system, to design ^nd paint
sets, to' control music and sound
effects and even -design costumes.
They are being introduced to heavy
and light drama, to stage make-up
and will soon have lessons in music
interpretation knd etiquette.
Here is *a meager ijournalistic tri
bute to “coach” Britton, who is help
ing to teach GHS athlete^ the es
sence of drama and is opening their
minds to the wide field of opportuni
ty it offers.
