Style Wiles School Days Bother In Time Element School days, school days. Dear old golden rule days. Readin’ an’ ritin’, an’ ’rithmatic Taught to the tune of the hickory stick . . . Well the hickory stick is a lit tie out-dated, but the rest still applies. There is one thing (among many others) that both Creech, Inc. Fine Furniture Bedding’ Floor Covering 209-211 W. Walnut St. Goldslwro, N. C. ers me about school. That is the time element. It just isn’t right — the year beginning on January 1, and end ing on December 31. That is, not for people who go to school. For the fortunate ones who do not it is probably okay. The year has to have a beginning^ and an end ing and it might as well be that. But for us who have to go to school it is all wrong. Here is my plan (probably by the time you read this the cal- ende rindustry will be revising calendei-s to fit it). The year should begin on September 7 (this date would be subject to Christmas just passed as you know, and it’s an old American custom to give presents. I’d been hoping that these gifts might be mentioned ia “Style Wiles” but there is little hope. Some of the girls did get scatter pins and they look mighty pretty on those sweaters. Another fad is a shawl made oi the same material as the skirt, and this worn around the should ers. Not only are the long swing black coats still popular but they are making rain coats that vvay, coming in patterns of 111’ check and stripes and also plain colors The new fangle kind can be worn three ways. Slits on each side is what provides this. See ya‘ next issue w — so long. The proteus, a cave - dwellin* salamander, turns black when ex- posed to light change according to the date school started on), and it would end on June 7 (this date would also be subject to change). See? Simple. Summer? WeU, that would just be a welcome interlude be tween the years.
