PAGE TWO GOLDSBORO HI NEWS April 1, 1949 Have You Been To New York— The Big City? Have you ever been to New York? You have! Well good! And how did you like the big city? The theaters, the stores, the neon signs, the subways—oh, the sub ways—those wretched subways. Well, me, not having sense enough to keep up with my train ticket decided to go back to the recently checked out of hotel to try to find it. Since Martha and Dawson were going to do a little shopping, (on Dawson’s 90 cents) I had to catch the subway by my self. After going down the subway entrance I put my dime in the slt>t- and my journey began. Be tween following the white lights, red lights, green lights, local sub way sigjTs, express subways, up town subway signs, down town signs I just finally gave up— . closed my eyes for a second and Ihe next thing I knew I was on a subway— Chambers Street.. .Now wait a minute this isn’t my subway "Oh, pardon me lady, is this the ■ way to 96th street?” Deciding for myself that I was f>n the wrong subway, I hopped tilf ai;id waited for the next one. And boy what a relief it was when I hit 42 street (Times Square) knowing that I was headed in the right direction even though I did *till have 54 blocks to go. Scott Motor Co.
