PAGE SIX GOLDSBORO HI NEWS Quakes Take Two Baseball The Goldsboro High school basketball Quakes scored the second win in two outings Tues day afternoon, March 29, when three members of the Quake mound staff teamed up to toss a no-hitter at the visiting Clin ton Dark Horses, to beat them 9-0. The game was staged in the Goldsboro Municipal Sta dium. After being held to only one hit in the first five innings, the Quakes broke loose in the sixth frame to tally eight runs, on six Xli« Mutual Lii'e Insurance Co. of New York M. A. Gene Summerlin and Ed Vinson got the big hits during the Quake rally, both doubles. Gene Summerlin started on them to show, mind you, but gave in to William Bell in the fifth. Bell lasted for three in nings before Coach Tony Blysak sent in Donald Percise to hurl the final two frames. The no-hitter was saved for the Quakes by some brilliant play of Reserved Shortstop Dav id Johnson in the ninth inning. The first batter up, Peter Win- free for the.visitors, hit one off the handle of his bat and the ball appeared to be one of the kind that falls in just between the infield and the outfield for safeties, but Johnson took the ball on the dead run over his shoulder to make one of the pret tiest catches seen all season long. Five subjects a day and usually homework from at least three of these. On some night^s we only have something to review or look over, or maybe just a little writ ten work. But the other nights are the real trouble makers. First off we start with our easiest lesson or the one we think we could finish first. Af ter sweating that out, we begin on the next and finally the last thing comes up.
