H. S. He has taken a year off from his studies to speak to high school and college students in North Carolina on the need for strengthening the United Nations into a world federal government with limited powers adequate to prevent war and aggi-ession Byrd’s work being sponsored is majoring in Sociology. He is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Since beginning his work in September of this year, Byrd has spoken to more than 1,500 students at 15 colleges and 6 high schools. World federalist chap ters have been formed in several of the colleges as a result of this work. Byrd’s wor kis bein gsponsor- ed by tlie United World Feder alists of North Carolina, which is a branch of the largest na tional organization working for the world government. This group is paying his traveling ex penses. In college Byrd was active in the Methodist Student Movement, and was president of the Inter collegiate Council for religion in Life. His interest in world fed eration is a result of his activity in the world federalist chapter at Duke. This chapter along with others sponsored the "Washing ton Caravan” in which students from all over the state went to Washington and talked with the North Carolina Congressional Delegation on world government legislation. The Blackbirds had moved ahead in the second quarter when George Newby went over his own right tackle for 42 yards and a touchdown. The home town team lost their chance to tie up the game when Newby failed to go over in a line plunge attempt for the extra p>oint. ' Dick Howard put the Quakes back in the ball game in the third quarter when he went four yards over left tackle to tie the game up. The touchdown closed a drive of over 60 yards.
