The victory came January 3 at the expense of the Snow Hill bas- keteers who went down 37-32. The Greene county team led for three entire periods and for the better part of the fourth quarter, but Hallow and Percise loosened up their shooting arms and eyes and pUlled into the lead with just a Ifew minutes re maining in the game. Hallow led the scoring with 11 points with William Bell right behind him with eight. In a preliminary game to the Varsity-Snow Hill game January 3, the little Quakes lost their ex hibition on the boards by a 41-39 margin in a game that had as wacky an ending as any that will be played this year. Coach Chick Doak of the Little Quakes and Larry James of th Snow Hill team decided on a “sudden death’” ending to the game, which meant that the team that scored first would win. Goldsboro controlled the tap but missed their shot at the bas ket and a foul was detected against one of the Goldsboro players. Howard Ham missed the gratis shot but in the wild scramble that followed the free GOLDSBORO HI NEWS S Ronald Percise, the scoring leader of the 1949-1950 Varsity bas ketball squad, is shown with the rest of the team grouped behind ‘him.
