Earthquakes and Charlotte-Harding battled to a scoreless tie Friday night in the Earthquakes last home game of the season. This is the third game this sea son that the Quakes have played to a 0-0 deadlock. In the first half Charlotte made several big attempts to score but were halted by the stout Golds boro line. The Quakes, although hampered by injuries, began to show signs of an offense in the second half. D. C. Daughtry threw passes to ends Jay Maxwell and Bobby. Martin for gains. In the last few minutes of the game Charlotte took to the air. The Quakes, however, maintained their strong defense and took pos session of the ball, with the game ending after two more plays. C Sociology Class Visits New Homes A trip was made to the Fair- view Homes by Coach Clyde Whitener’s second and fourth period Sociology classes. Purpose of the trip was to see what effect the project would htve on future culture. It was the belief of the builders that if chil- dren^come from good homes, and are instructed in the right direc tion, they will be less apt"to get on the wrong path. The rent is based on income and size of family. \ Playgrounds and equipment are being set up for children and a large room is provided for par ties. Other places of social interest are to be visited by the Sociology classes. "Praying Hands" Devotional Theme “Praying Hands” was the sub ject of a talk by Reverend W. D. Caviness, Friday, October 12, at the SA devotional. Billy Register, sophomore, of fered a prayer at the beginning of the devotional. Reverend Mr. Caviness gave the benediction. The group saw the Qu^es demolish Raleigh iti an upset 13-0 victory. Shown from left to ri§ht in the front row are: Horace Potter, Tommy Stith, Thomas Snypes, Frank Farfour and Bob Daw son. In the back row are Joe Pearson, Claiborne Pate, Speed Hollowell, Marvin Daughtry, Rich ard Daughtry, and James Kannan. James Crone was late and didn’t get in the picture. Seniors Select Committees To Plan For Various Events Of The Year Plans for election of the su perlatives of the Senior class were made at the senior class council meeting on October 29. The nom inations were to be held on Mon day and the voting to be carried out on the following days. They will be announced in the annual. Other business taken up includ ed nominations for a King and Queen from the Senior class for the Hallowe’en Festival. The stu dents elected were Jane Langston and Roger Caudill. The committees for the Senior class were chosen. The chairmen and advisors are as follows: com mencement committee, Morris Gurley, Mr. Britton; class day, Nancy Bridgers, Miss Grant; sen ior picnic, Sally Edgerton, Mrs. Gurley; invitation, Mary Lillie Chestnutt, Miss McKeel; senior gift, Jimmy Cavenaugh, Mr. Jef frey. The discussion of the senior gift was also brought up. Sugges tions were made, but nothing def inite was decided. Further plans for the gift will be made by the senior gift committee.
