They’.e been doing things together all their lives and it seems only na tural to think of them both when you say the nairis Lundy. That’s the love story behind one of RMHS’s favorite husband and ■wife teams, Mr. and Mrs. “Bill” Lundy. When contaited for in- tormation about her life’s history, Mrs. Thelma Lundy said modest ly, “You should talk to Bill. His past is much more uiteresting than mine. I’rn a veiy average person and I’ve never done any thing outstanding. Perhaps, I should make up some honors to keen the interview from being so duU.” Is It dull to be a favorite per sonality among leachers and stu dents alike? Being the physical education teacher here for almost four years certainly deserves some credit. Two Loves Since Hisrh School All sports and a certain “Bill” have been Mrs. Lundy’s love since high school. Although she was bom in Roanoke, Vifginia, she moved to Krwin, Tenheosee, at an early age. She was on the basket ball team and received her share of athletic awards at Unicoi County high school. “My only real honor was bain? on the Honor Roll for two years,-' explained Mrs. Lundy. Since she enjoyed participating In sports so murh, Mrs. Lundy de cided to major in this field at Tennessee State. She listed bas ketball, softball, volleyball, tennis, croquet, archery, ping pon? and badminton among her sports in college. Mrs. Lundy traveled all over the country when her husband served in the Navy during V/orld War II. Since this time she has been busy teaching and rearing the two little Lundys, Mike and Jerr^; Now, how could Mrs. l,iyidy still call her life dull and just plain average? When Rocky Mount went to the State AAA Tournament and drew Burlmgton for the first game, it looked like the Birds would have a good chance of coming out near the top. But the Birds got off to a slow start getting only one field goal in the first quarter and Rocky Mount was defeated in the first game. Maybe the Birds will have better luck next time. Spring is coming and three new sports—baseball, tennis, and golf —enter the field. Coach Cleetwood has 25 boys on his baseball team with 7 letter- men returning from last year. Coach Adkin’s golf team has seven boys, five who returned from last year. The tennis team, coached by Mr. Lundy, has sixteen boys. Ten of these played last year.
