Save lives! were the words seen everywhere in the halls and classrooms during Fire Prevention Week, October 7-13. Members of the bulletin board committee were responsible for the posters and bulletin boards urging the students to consider the tremendous importance of fire prevention. In remembrance of the enormous tragic fire of Chicago 1871, Fire Prevention Week is observed nationally every year. Years ago, the major job of the fire department was to fight fires; however, fire fighting has laecome secondary. Prevention of fire is now the supreme concern. By striving to prevent fires, the fire department feels it is serving the community to a great extent. It is extremely Important that students realize the value of fire prevention because it will become our responsibility as future citi zens of our community. J, R.
