The guidance center at Rocky Mount Senior High School is in deed an organization of many fun ctions. It is a spacious group of rooms which offers to the students of Seriioy High varibtiS services. Headed by Miss Kate Parks Kitchin, Mr. Charles Fountain, and eight student assis tants,' the Guidance Center can rightfully be called the co-ordi nator of all Rocky Mount Senior High student affairs. The history of the Guidance Center dates back to the be ginning of Senior High itself. When the present R. M. Wilson Junior High building served as the senior high school, a small office with one guidance coun selor was available to the stu dents. When the present building was occupied in 1953, the need for an enlargement of the guid ance set-up was seen, and several rooms were provided for this purpose. Miss Kitchin can be considered the true co-ordinator of the Guid ance Center. It seems almost miraculous that she has served with such great efficiency as both g^uldance counselor and as a truly great English teacher. Although her time is limited. Miss Kit chin has make the impossible job of successfully handling these duties possiblet As counselor, perhaps the most Important job Miss Kitchin lias A. F.
