Curiosity filled everyone’s mind with each rise of the curtain, af: he wondered what the leading characters would be wearing. The use of the French wig also aroused a great deal of interest. Credit should also be given to the many students who worked backstage, and to those who help ed create the appealing set. The sould effects were also quite realistic. A few faults could be found in the production but they really ate of little significance. Answers To Aptitude Test Another victory was gained for RMSH when the Edsonians pre sented their fall production, ^‘If a Man Answers,” November 30 and Decsmber 1. Directed by Mrs. Ada S. Hobbs, the cast of 16 proved that high school stud ents are capable of producing a play as good as, or better than, the movie by the same title. •The students were well chosen for their parts and did an ex cellent job portraying the char acters. Some of the parts were difficult for high school students, but the cast proved themselves capable of anything, even to a. French accent. Most of the stars in “If a Man Answers” were participating in their first pro duction, evidence that there is a lo t of undiscovered talent at Senior High. Playing for two nights, “If a Man Answers” made history at RMSH, and the size of the crowds both nights proved that the people of Rooky Mopijt are really in terested in a.n4teur acting. Much of the success of a pro duction is due to the fine se lection of the drama. “If a Man Answers” proved to be very entertainmg and certainly held the audience’s attention. The fre quent change of scenes kept the play from becoming monotonous. Here are the correct answers to the aptitude test given on page two. 1. It is as much an art as painting, as much a science as mathematics, and as much a profession as medicine or law. The architect must combine these three disciplines in order to design and guide to com pletion beautiful and practical buildings and their environment for his clients. He must be part administrator,* organizer, tech nician, planner, economist, soci ologist, surveyor, landscaper, engineer, artist and, if he is to understand his clients’ needs, psychologist Architectural schools generally .require a five-year course of study. Some you can enter di rectly from high school; for others you will need two to four years of college work first, fol lowed by two or three years of specialization in architectural subjects. Architectural courses cover all aspects of design theory, and usually include math, chemistry, physics, sociology, economics, structural engineering, uses of building materials, history of architecture, graphic presenta tion, heating and ventilating, electricity, lighting, acoustics, specification writing, city plan ning and landscape planning. After graduation you begin your internship in an architect’s office. After gaining some ex perience, you should be able to make tetween $100 and $250 a week. About $12,000 is the top salary for achitectural workers in large firms. Architecture, however, is not a high-income profession. If you are outstandingly successful, you may earn more than $50,000 a year. Many make between $25,- 000 and $50,000, but on the whole incomes average well below that. The architect’s true reward cannot be measured in dollars. It comes from the satisfaction of knowing that he is contribut ing to the world’s store of beauty and helping people to live, work and play together better. Every building, even the smallest house, can enrich the lives of all who live in it, use it, or see it. The gratification gained from these accomplishments is the architect’s real reward.
