CHUCK BALL AND TERESA RHODES have been named
Rotary Couple for the month of April by RMHS Principal
Mr. Vincent J. Colombo.
RMHS Students Migrated
To The Beach For Easter
Chuck Ball And Teresa Rhodes
Are Rotary Couple For April
Fart Lauderdale, Daytona,
Miami, Oceaa Drive, and
Morehead are names now
synonomous with RMHS and
Ealster vacaitions. Each year
thousands of studenits migrate
to the nation’s beachels.
Among this mighty throng are
■a few from RMHS.
They go toward the magneitic
force Which draws this multi
tude of teenagers is known
commonly as the “FUve S’s.”
Several Senior boys were
quietly reclining around Bud
Dixon’s Motel in Morehead
City when the members of a
popular singing group ap
peared on the scene. Roger
Stancil quickly recognized the
members of the combo and
acted swiftly in securing a fire
hose to “extinguish (the Em
bers.” Dan Ballance and Air-
thiir Marcus tried in despair
to restrain Roger, but to no
avail as the Embers went
down in a i>uff of smoke and
steam.
Sophomores Jerry Powell
and Billy Jones were among
the few who dared (to brave
the mighty Morehead surf.
For itheir efforts they received
frozen wax and many chill
bumps.
Hie outdoorsman that he is.
Jack Coillins chose to see the
beach by spending his holidays
as a hermit in a pup tent.
Though Jack was staying
alone, he welcomed many vis
itors to his home away from
home.
Bill Griffin ann Sandy Nal-
ley set la new record for More-
head Beach. They flew a kite
up to 2800 feet when a passing
plane plucked it from the sky.
Snoopy and the Red Baron
pedisonified.
Until the weekend after the
Junior-Senior, iMay 19-21, the
beaches were (temjporarily
abandoned by the RMHS stu
dents.
’I^ie Rotary boy and girl for
the month of April are Chuck
Bail and Teresa Rhodes. Teresa
is Chairman of the Student Or
ganization Elections Committee
and Chuck is Chairman of the
Traffic Committee.
Have you ever wondered who
is the one person responsible
for leading the nominations of
candidates for school and class
officers and who is in charge
of the weU-planned andi organ
ized elections poxjgram at
RMHS?
Leading the elections com
mittee is a big responsibility
and Teresa handles her job
with the enthusiasm and eager
ness that characterizes her per
sonality. There arie few people
who don’t know Teresa’s name,
if nJot her face.
During her' very rare spare
time, Teresa enjoys a variety
of outdoor sports. Her interest
in water skiing holds first place
as a hoibby. Teresa says, “I
love so many sponts, you
wouldn’t be able to put them all
in the paper.” Her favorite
food is shi^abob 'and her fa
vorite car is her Volkswagen
convertable, of course.
When asked what subjects
she was most interested in,
Teresa said with a laugh, “Miss
CraigMlIl will kill me for this,

but I’ll have to say math and
English.” She added ithat chem_
istry had most definitely been
her hardest subject. “I hate
any kind of science,” she
laughed. Teresa is undecided
as to her course of study at
St. Mary’s Junior College,
Where she plans to arttend. She
wiM take a regular liberal arts
course and then hopes to trans
fer to Carolina in her junior
year.
Teresa laughingly admits that
one of her greatesi proiblems
is her “ibig feet.” “The most
embarrassing thing that ever
happened to me was tripping
over nothing at all and falUng
dbwn the steps at a baseball
game.”
Everyone finds Teresa dis
plays the very quaMties sihe
considers most important in
a person, “honesty, good man-
niers, and trustworthiness.”
“I think girls should try to
keep the respect of everyone.
I hate girls who gossip”.
There are certain duties and
positions which are inseperat-
able from the well-being of our
school. Among these few hon
ored posts is that of Traffic
Committee Cliairman. Co- or-
dinator of daily school traffic,
keeiper of parkinig lot, and
bestower of official sanction
on ithe Grand Prix of Senior
High, this person has great
influence. In reference to his
abilities in this area and
others. Rotary Boy of the
Month for April is Chuck Ball.
All around great guy. Chuck
has an amiable personality
and participates in all school
activities. As a member of
the football, basketiball, and
track teams, he exemplifies
school spirit at its best.
W|hen asked his opinion
about schoofl. spirit this year,
he said it was great and the
school really seemed to be
behind the teams., In conclu-
sion, he had this comment to
make, “It’s great to have
people behind you even when
you’re losing.”
