Aim of FHA The aim of National FHA Week is to drown out the noise of the rebellious and ir responsible few and remind the public that the great ma jority of young people, and particularly the 602,000 who are members of Future Home makers of America, are con centrating on positive action as they look “Toward New Taxi Co. Cl 68101 RADIO DISPATCHED Horizons,” the FHA motto, and strive for the improve ment of life in America. During FHA Week, mem bers will be concerned with emphasizing tlie significance of the FHA in the nation. The following are a few of the FHA facts: The Future Homemakers of America is a nonprofit na tional organization supported by membership dues and is an integral part of the secon dary school home economics education program. Members are both boys and girls in home economics. The organi zation was founded June 11, 1945, and its program of work is designed by the youth them selves as they improve per sonal, family, and community living. Churchesin City Organize Youth-Supported Mission Several weeks ago various churches in Rocky Mount, under the direction of Mr. Curt Finch, assistant pastor and youth director of Lake side Baptist Church, began or ganizing a youth coordinated council to further the involve ment of young people in future jnobil missions around the city. Spirit Preserved By Band Ref !ord dti April 20, the RMSH band will record a 33 rpm record to preserve the RMSH spirit for the future. On the RCA album, there will be such RMSH favorites as Dixie, Washington and Lee Fight Song, Hail to the Var sity, Alma Mater, West Side Story, Chorale Caprico, Ta Cata for Band, Totem Pole, Second Suite in F for Military Band and possibly others. At the present there is a sale through promissory notes of a little over 100. Mr. Sykes and the band hopes more will be sold. The record will be available sometime in May for $3-98. Promisory notes will continue to be distributed through homerooms. Each church was to desig nate to whom was to be given the right to vote and the right to voice the opinion of his church. It was specifically stated that this was a youth council and that the delegates were to be the sole represen tatives from their dimxsh. It is believed the young people ^ could accomplish more and take a more efficient and ac tive part in future projects. One project mentioned by Mr. Finch was the mobil mission. This project took place last summer. It consisted of the young people from two church es in Rocky Moimt who visiited schools and playgrounds and tried to help under-privileged children by providing recrea tional activities and through spreading of Chris.tian beliefs. Although the council is still in its first stage of develop ment many churches have ex pressed their support as well as showing it by participa tion in Uie past meetings held at Lakeside. It is earnestly believed that this council vnll be capable of accomplishing much and expanding Rocky Mount’s scope in the field of mobil Missions, ANITA'S 232 TARBORO STREET Phone GI 6-8165 ENGLEWOOD BRAND MEATS MANUFACTURED BY Z.
